As of January 1, 2016, citizens can expect higher excises for fuel and alcohol drinks, it was planned on Saturday, December 12, with adopted changes to the Law on excises.

Excise for oil derivatives will provide annual increase of profit based on excises totaling additional six billion dinars, the Government of Serbia expects.

According to new legal solutions, excises for a liter of lead gasoline will total RSD 52,50 instead of 50 per liter. A liter of lead-free gasoline will have excise of 54 instead of current 50 dinars and for gas oils excises will increase four dinars per liter and for liquid oil gas one dinar per kilogram.

The Government explained that increased amount of excise will align with the consuming prices index in 2017 for the first time.

Excises for alcohol-free drinks will increase by two percent.

In the future, excise will be paid not only for strong alcohol drinks but weak alcohol drinks which contain more than 1,2 percent as well, and 15 percent of alcohol most.

Excise will be paid for all kinds of beer except from alcohol-free beer which contains up to 0,5% of alcohol regardless of packing.
