Mitas to invest EUR 3.5 million in new production plant in Ruma - Jobs for another 250 workers in 2016
- Czechs plan to expand their production in Srem in the following period by moving part of their product portfolio from Slovenia to Serbia - Ruma Mayor Sladjan Mancic confirmed to TV Sremska televizija. - Expansion of production in the factory of Czech company Mitas in Ruma is one of the most successful Czech investments in our country, and the meeting between Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Czech President Bohuslav Sobotka on Tuesday (1 September 2015) is a proof of firm economic cooperation between the two countries.
The process of opening a new production facility in Ruma is underway. The Vojvodina government has already allocated new subsidies for the expansion of production through the National Employment Agency, which should ensure jobs for 46 workers. The new production line to make radial tires for the Russian market will be set up in the old facility, and a brand new equipment has already been ordered and purchased. Thanks to a trade agreement between Russia and Serbia, the products of this factory are intended for the Russian market. The first phase of expansion of the storage space is finished, and it is forecasted that about 250 new jobs would be created in 2016. Exports to Western Europe and America account for 90% of the production.
Mitas will invest about EUR 3.5 million in the new production plant in Ruma and increase the production of rubber products to 16,000 tonnes, which is a significant progress when compared to 11,000 tonnes they used to produce in their initial phase, TV Sremska televizija reports.
