The minister for innovations and technological development, Nenad Popovic, has opened the Regional Innovation Smart City Center in Vrnjacka Banja, in which the Government of Serbia invested RSD 36 million.

At the opening of the center, Popovic said that, in the preceding four years, Serbia had invested over EUR 110 million in innovation infrastructure and added that the country had 21 innovation startup centers at that moment and that another four would open by the end of the year.

He announced that, in the next years, there would be even more investments in innovations and new technologies.

He praised the local self-government, which, he says, managed to make a modern and contemporary innovation center in Vrnjacka Banja in a very short amount of time and under the highest standards.

Popovic pointed out that, as one of the two or three main tourist places in Serbia, with 1.3 million overnight stays a year, Vrnjacka Banja deserved to have one such center.

He pointed out that the idea of new tourist centers in the world, especially in the strongest economies such as America, Israel, or Germany, was to build innovation centers in such centers, so that those who are resting for over two weeks could also work somewhere.
