The biggest European accelerator in the field of clean technologies, EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator, has invited innovators with breakthrough ideas to counter climate change to apply by January 27.

EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator is meant for early-stage startups (up to five years since incorporation and minimum two founders) or teams looking to create a startup based around a new technology or service with high potential for both commercial viability and climate impact.

This edition of the start-up Accelerator is open for applications for start-ups in the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia.

The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is EIT Climate-KIC's outreach program to increase the innovation capacity of European regions that don’t yet benefit directly from the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).

The selected candidates will be provided with expert coaching, pitch training and workshops, an international bootcamp, mentoring and networking, access to Climate-KIC partners and network and financial support up to EUR 50,000 per team (depending on stage).

Climate-KIC is the EU’s largest public private partnership addressing climate change through innovation to build a zero carbon economy.

CCIS as local partner in Serbia

A total of 56 candidates from the region have been involved in the accelerator program so far, among them Biomyc (Bulgaria), CarGo (Serbia), Bio2CHP (Cyprus), Tomappo (Slovenia) and M-Swis (Romania).

Serbia joined the EIT RIS program in 2016. The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) is the local partner.

As said on the Climate-KIC’s website, in Serbia, the focus is on nurturing and further developing the nascent cleantech ecosystem in the country. They also point out that Serbia also functions as their gateway into the Western Balkans.
