The tendering for the selection of the company to build the Science-Technology Park in Nis is close to completion and the works on the facility are expected to start by the end of September, Ivan Petkovic, a representative of the Local Economic Development Office, told Beta.
– The Science-Technology Park will be built on an area of around 14,000 square meters. The construction will cost more than EUR 8 million, and the procurement of the necessary equipment will cost EUR 1.4 million – Petkovic pointed out and added that the construction of the Science-Technology Park will be funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The City of Nis, Petkovic added, has completed all the preparatory works so that the construction might start as soon as an agreement is signed with the contractor.
– The deadline period for the construction of the Science-Technology Park is 14 months, and the city obliges to have the necessary infrastructure built in the meantime – Petkovic said.
According to him, the City of Nis has prepared the tendering documentation and expects the EIB to authorize the tendering for the extension of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, that is, the construction of a multipurpose laboratory block.
The Science-Technology Park, the multipurpose laboratory block and the startup center at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, which has already opened, will comprise a unit in which innovative ideas will be created and developed and where companies will be founded to produce innovative products and services.
