The Montenegro Resort company has published on the Internet a notice of sale of luxury villas and suites in the territory of Skadarsko Jezero (Skadar Lake) National Park, for the construction of which they still await a building permit, the Montenegrin daily Vijesti reports.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development of Montenegro has announced in a release that they have not received a request for the issue of building permit for the construction of an ecological resort in Rijeka Crnojevica that is, allegedly, valued at as much as EUR 90 million.

However, few days ago the Government adopted a location study for this project.
- Now this study must pass a public discussion in order to be adopted by the Government - people at the Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development explained.

It is strictly forbidden to build facilities in national parks that are detrimental to the appearance of nature unless a special building permit is issued by the Ministry.

People at Nacionalni Parkovi Crne Gore (the National Parks of Montenegro) said that they were not authorized to issue building permits, adding that they had no information that such facilities would be built in Skadarsko Jezero National Park.

However, a release published on the website of Porto Skadar Lake says that 30 villas are already available to prospective buyers.

It is also said in the release that the company owner is Lionel Sonigo from France and that its representative in Montenegro is Ivan Zindovic.

As Zindovic explained, they expect to get the building permit in June or July, after the Government approves the location study, and this holiday resort should be completed in three years.

He pointed out that the value of this project designed by French architect Francois Leclerk was EUR 90 million.

- The land is bought and the location is determined. We got a Green Globe certificate for sustainable tourism from the United Nations, which is a proof that the project will not endanger the environment in any way - Zindovic told Vijesti.

He stressed that the project would be implemented by people who had built "the best eco resorts in many national parks across Europe" which "are now the greatest tourist attractions."
