In order to increase the popularity of golf in Serbia and organize tournaments that would attract players from all parts of the world, it is necessary to build a golf course with 18 holes. The first such course should be built near Novi Sad, within a large EUR 12.35 million worth of tourist and recreational complex.
This strong "swing" is going to be done by Golf Club Centar that currently owns a 9-hole golf course on an area of 38 hectares in Zabalj near Novi Sad.
- Serbia is one of the few countries in the region that don't have a golf course with 18 holes which is necessary to attract players from abroad. Construction of one such course means a step closer to Europe and the world – Sasa Jokic, president of Golf Club Centar, told eKapija.
In addition to a big golf course, Golf Club Centar also plans to have accommodation units, that is, an eco village and a hotel, built in that location.
The future eco village will be made up of 30 houses with a swimming pool. Houses in this part of the complex will comprise suites of 40, 61, 83, 125 square meters, and there should also be individual luxury houses of 250 square meters each.
According to Jokic, the complex will also include a four-star hotel featuring 50 suites.
- The hotel will have all accompanying facilities such as swimming pool, spa center, fitness room, congress room, pro-shop, etc.
Golf Club Centar seeks a partner for this project. As they say, every model of cooperation is possible as construction can be carried out in stages.
This project was presented at a large investment conference in Moscow in late October.
- That event was excellently organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and the Russian Chamber of Commerce. It is important to us that the SCC recognized the value and potential of our project and initiated its presentation in Moscow. Golf is a developed sport in Russia. Given that a large number of companies from Russia operate in Serbia, such as Gazprom, Sberbank and South Stream, it is likely that one of them will be the investor - Sasa Jokic pointed out.
