In the year of the 120th anniversary of organized tourism at Mount Zlatibor, Cajetina officials announce investments that will turn this mountain into a European tourist destination over the next decade.

Cajetina Mayor Milan Stamatovic says in an interview with Tanjug news agency that the construction of the world's longest sightseeing gondola 9 kilometers long, from Zlatibor to Tornik, will commence soon and cost EUR 9.95 million.

He points out that the Cajetina municipality did not receive either support or guarantees for the project implementation from the state, but they came from the Pomagalski company whose insurance company is going to back this project and its implementation.

- We have provided RSD 370 million for the advance payment by selling a land lot at the starting point of the gondola, at Obudojevica, and the plan is to sell another two locations. Hotel owners at Zlatibor are also interested in joining this project through a private-public partnership, so that it won't be a proble to secure the funding for gondola construction - Stamatovic stresses.

He also announces that Golden Town, intended for medical and sports and recreational tourism, will be built over the next ten years along the route of the gondola towards Ribnica and Tornik.

The center of Golden Town will be Ribnicko Lake, which is now the source of water for people at Zlatibor. With the construction of plumbing systems Susica and Dobroselicka Reka, people of Zlatibor will get a new water supply system, while Ribnicko Lake will become a sports tourism center.

The deadline to build the gondola between Zlatibor and Tornik is December 2014, and its construction will run parallel to the construction of Golden Town.

- Our aim is to increase the number of guests at Zlatibor from current 250,000 to 1 million per year over the next ten years - says Tanjug's interlocutor.
