It is more and more likely that Belgrade will get a luxury tourist complex worth EUR 200 million. A project announced long time ago by a Greek investor has come in focus again. Lamda Development does not give up its plans to build a multifunctional complex on the site of former Beko factory, in one of the most beautiful parts of the capital city, at the foot of the Belgrade fortress, people at that company confirmed to eKapija.
- This unique complex will be built in the location of the former textile factory Beko, 6-8 Vojvode Bojovica Street. This exclusive complex will span 94,000 square meters and comprise residential and commercial units, office space, as well as a five-star hotel - said people from Lamda.
The complex will be situated on a 3.3-hectare area between Kalemegdan and the sports center 25. maj, and it should connect the city and the river.
- This project will revive an extremely important, but currently neglected part of the city. The complex will become a new urban center of the city, an exciting destination for a comfortable living, business activities, tourism, shopping, walks, rest and enjoyment - people at Lamda explained.
The Greek company has hired Zaha Hadid, meaning that Belgrade will be the first city in this part of Europe to feature buildings designed by this famous architect if the investor's plans come true.
- This project will put Belgrade on the world map, considering that one of the most famous architects of today will be the author of the Master Plan for the project. The new complex will introduce new construction and architectural standards in the Serbian market, given that it will be in line with the highest standards of "green building". We are sure that it will become a new symbol of Belgrade and attract a large number of tourists and all those wishing to enjoy the vision of famous Zaha Hadid - people from Lamda Development said to eKapija.
People at the company pointed out that the project would greatly affect the Serbian economy because it would attract investments from local and foreign businessmen interested in buying properties in attractive locations, and it should provide about 1,000 new jobs.
The urban plan for this project has been on public display since October 8th. The area where this complex should be built is part of the Belgrade fortress, which is cultural heritage of exceptional importance to the state.
People at the Greek company confirmed that the project was completely in line with all domestic regulations norms, while all suggestions made by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute were included in the final design.
Lamda Development found a location for the complex back in 2007 and paid it EUR 55.8 million. Whether this complex is going to become a new symbol of Belgrade depends on the solution to the administrative problem that occurred upon the acquisition of Beko factory in bankruptcy.
People at Lamda Development said that they were unable to specify when the construction of the complex would kick off.
