The city on the Nisava river should get two luxury hotels in its downtown before the 1,700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, which is slowly approaching. In that way, Nis will offer their guests a comfortable accommodation in addition to sightseeing tours of its cultural and historical monuments, .

After being closed for many years, the ruined hotel Nis has recently been turned into a big construction site, where a four-star Grand hotel is expected to be built until March 1st, 2013. In addition, Ambasador hotel is also under reconstruction.

Although a dispute between the new owner of Srbija-Turist – Srba Ilic's company UHL Holding, and the Privatization Agency put Nis hotel "on hold" for as many as six years, much better days have finally come for this former pride of south Serbia. According to a privatization agreement, about EUR 3.37 million should be invested in the reconstruction of the existing facility, that is, the construction of Grand hotel.

Even though the breaks, during which the construction site was deserted, have taken their toll, the investors are not giving up their intention. They believe to be able to finish all the work until March 1st, 2013.

What is for sure is that the future hotel Grand deserves its name. We at eKapija have found out how this facility will look like after it is finished and which new services it will offer to tourists and businessmen.

The hotel Nis is situated in the very center of the city, in Vozdova Street. It has a cellar, mezzanine and five floors, and the investors say we won't be able to recognize it after the reconstruction. A modern design, glass facade, top-quality furniture and equipment will secure this facility a place on the map of top luxury hotels of Serbia.

The latest technological solutions will be implemented in Grand hotel, which will function as an "intelligent building."

It will comprise 125 rooms and suites, Cosmopolitan Bar and a restaurant, as well as a modern, multifunctional 500-seat auditorium. It will also be possible to divide this auditorium into smaller rooms, which makes it suitable for various conferences, meetings, congresses, etc.

Aside from being a place for business meetings, the hotel Grand will also be the right place for rest and relaxation thanks to a fitness and spa center.

Rooms will be furnished with two separate beds or one double bed. Bathrooms are bright and modernly designed, and each will feature a hair dryer. Guests will have at their disposal a mini bar, high-speed internet, telephone and a safe deposit box, as well as about 80 cable television channels.

All rooms are air-conditioned, and the air temperature in them can be set by guests. Instead of a key, a magnetic card is used to unlock the room. In that way, guests are guaranteed full security and privacy.

The Nis hotel reconstruction project, that is, the construction of Grand hotel, is entrusted to the same team that was hired to produce a design and manage the renovation works on Ruma hotel, which is now Park hotel.

- We have entrusted Sanja Drvenica and Ivan Janus with this job because they achieved excellent results in Ruma - say the investors.

According to the data from the website of Srbija-Turist, work on the preparation of the project and technical documentation, the update of the existing technical documentation from 2006 and the improvement of Nis hotel's energy efficiency is entrusted to the company Enterijer Centar Altego from Novi Sad.

New look for Nais as well

After hotels Nis and Ambasador, Nais motel as well is under reconstruction. Aside from the owner, Srbija-Turist's workers are satisfied too because they were paid all late salaries when UHL started building at full steam again.
