Serbia gets new logistics center worth EUR 10 million - Lagermax starts construction of warehouse in Simanovci

Serbia will get another logistics center until the end of this year, which will be opened in the business zone Simanovci, in the vicinity of the Belgrade-Zagreb highway. In late April the company Lagermax started the second phase of construction of a logistics-distribution center in the neighborhood in the borough of Pecinci, which will span 23,500 square meters once all the work is done. The total value of the investment in both phases amounts to EUR 10 million.

According to a design solution, the plan is to expand the storage space to form a high-bay warehouse spanning 3,680 square meters and a 3,083-square-meter handling space for recieving and dispatching goods.

Aleksandra Potkonjak, the director of Lagermax AED, says to eKapija that the new facility will be comprised of functionally connected units whose primary purpose is to receive, store and distribute goods.

- The facility will include an area for receiving and dispatching goods, a high-bay warehouse, a space for portable containers and access roads with loading and unloading ramps. A space where postal items will be received and classified will be situated between the high-bay warehouse and the outer circular road.

Potkonjak says that the warehouse currently includes two specially enclosed areas registered as a bonded warehouse.

- These bonded warehouses span 653 and 508 square meters. For now, the logistics center has 6,500 pallet positions, 12 loading and unloading ramps for large vehicles and two gates for loading and unloading smaller and delivery vehicles.

As she explained, the facility of the logistics center is designed as a freestanding skeletal structural system formed from prefabricated reinforced concrete elements.

- The roof cover is flat, with mechanically fixed polymer roof foil on a hard mineral wool insulation, which is leaned against prefabricated AB panels.

Aleksandra Potkonjak says that the deadline to finish the construction of the new facility is 1 September 2012.

Speaking about the company's current activities, Potkonjak adds:

- At this moment, the company is mainly working on the improvement of organizational activities. Our plan is to stay competitive and satisfy the needs of our customers.
