All prosecution offices in one building until 2013 - New facility to be built in Kneza Milosa street

In the vicinity of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and next to the building of the Embassy of Poland in Kneza Milosa street, a building where as much as five prosecution offices will be situated should be built by the end of 2013, Blic daily writes.

The project worth EUR 19 million will be implemented by the Republic of Serbia in association with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

An open competition for the design of the new building has been finished recently and the winner is ARCVS studio. The web portal www.beobuild.rs has presented the winning solution, which won the first prize in the competition against three other architectural bureaus.

The building that will host prosecution offices will occupy eight overground floors, spanning 12,710 square meters, as well as additional 6,760 square meters under the ground.

According to the idea of the architects from ARCVS studio, there will be no usual forms such as colonnades, big stairs or portals on the ground floor. Their design suggests somewhat more spontaneous solution, which is in much more direct connection with the street and passers-by, leaning against the strong alley in Kneza Milosa street.

If we take in consideration the fact that the contact between such institution and citizens is maintained through halls, waiting rooms and registries, then such concept of approach to the facility and the visual-functional communication between the ground floor and plants on the porch and the pavement in front of the facility come into focus.

According to the words of architects, the problem that was impossible to avoid is intersecting the pavement by traffic barriers. For that reason, automobiles will have to access the garage from the front side of the facility, crossing the pavement, and that is the only functional objection that the authors were unable to solve in a different way.

The facility will be of the same height as the already formed row of buildings in this street.

This building will host the Republic Public Prosecution Office, the Appellation Public Prosecution Office, the Higher Public Prosecution Office, as well as the First and the Second Public Prosecution Office in Belgrade.

Works on the construction of the new building should commence in spring 2012 at the latest, while the period for their completion is set at 18 months, meaning that the prosecution offices will move into the building in 2013.
