The Commission for the preparation of the proposition of the program of the construction of apartments for members of the security forces has reached the decision at a meeting held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, to include Sremska Mitrovica in the first phase of the project, in addition to Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Vranje, Kragujevac and Kraljevo. According to the plan, 200 apartments should be built in Sremska Mitrovica in this phase.
– This is a project of great importance for the Republic of Serbia. For this reason, we've included public companies – Srbijagas, Telekom and EPS, in order to help carry out the project. Also, at the initiative of the president of the Republic of Serbia to find optimal locations for the construction of these apartments, the Commission has reached the decision to have the apartments for members of the security forces in the first phase built in Zemun – pointed out Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who presided over the session of the Commission.
The construction of the first apartments in Vranje and Nis is expected to start in September. Following that, the construction will successively continue in other cities as well. Materials produced in Serbia will be used primarily.
The members of the Commission discussed the next phase of the project, which will include additional local self-governments. Accordingly, they reached the decision for a new valuation of needs in Serbia's towns and municipalities to start.
The Law on Special Terms for Realization of Project of Construction of Apartments for Members of Security Forces
was adopted at the National Assembly of Serbia and came into effect on June 1, 2018.
