The CEO of "Jat Airways", Saša Vlaisavljević, confirmed that that company had received the offer from Airport "Nikola Tesla" to sell part of JAT's property for 35m EUR.
Vlaisavljević said that that offer would be taken into consideration after the Government of Serbia adopted the strategy for revival of that airliner. He added that he did not want to give any comments on the whereabouts of the Airport's funds.
The Government of Serbia should decide tomorrow (October 30, 2008) if it accepts the strategy for the recovery of "Jat". The media wrote that that issue divided the Government. Allegedly, the Ministry of Economy and the Privatization Agency want to sell JAT's buildings in the country and abroad, while the Ministry of Finance and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković are of the opinion that "Jat"
can still recover without selling the property.
- "Jat Airways"
expects that the Government will adopt the strategy for JAT on Thursday, which will be followed by the commencement of realization of the measures. It is extremely important that all three representative trade unions in "Jat" are completely aware of the situation we're all in - said Vlaisavljević.
