The City of Nis will increase its hotel capacities next year, following the reconstruction of hotels Ambasador and Park, the owners of the said facilities and Mayor Darko Bulatovic announced on Friday, September 8, 2017.
Both hotels used to belong to Srbijaturist, but remained in ruin and without guests for years after the company's unsuccessful privatization.
Ivan Spasic, the owner of My Place Group, the new owner of Ambasador, pointed out that the reconstruction of the hotel would be completed by the end of April 2018 and that the plan was to open it in May.
– This will be a five-star hotel and will actually have more points than needed for acquiring five stars – Spasic said and pointed out that the hotel, which used to have 140 rooms, would now have 58 studios, 10 apartments and two presidential apartments of 85 square meters.
The hotel will have numerous new features, such as a spa center, a conference hall and a billiard hall. It will also have its own parking lot with 35 spaces.
The new owner of Park, Andrija Radojicic, said that the facility would be brought back to its former glory most probably before the end of 2017. He also announced new features in the hotel, which was built in 1936.
– Among other things, the hotel will feature a spa center, a congress hall, a lookout and a panoramic elevator. It will have between four and five stars – Radojicic said.
The reconstruction of each hotel, according to their owners, will cost around EUR 5 million and will enable the creation of around 200 jobs.
