Zlatar to get three new hotels in 2017 – More than 500 new beds needed to meet guest demand

Zlatar will get close to 500 new beds for tourists this year, which will considerably enhance its offer. However, tourist workers say that this is not enough, as “not even a thousand new beds could meet the current needs” due to great interest in spending a vacation on the mountain. The local self-government thereby invites investors to make investments under favorable conditions.

In addition to the four current ones, three new hotels will be raised this year in Babica Brdo, and the owners of several mansions and boarding houses are also planning to expand their accommodation capacities.

A 120-bed hotel will be built in Zlatar for the purposes of school tourism, and the investor is from Belgrade. The construction of a hotel with around thirty rooms not far from the closed RH Centar has been announced by entrepreneur Aleksandar Sekulic from Nova Varos.

The biggest investment has been announced by the company Slozna Braca from Drmanovici, which will build a new hotel, with over 5,500 square meters, not far from their hotel Zlatarski Biseri. The works will start in spring, and the project is worth over EUR 4 million. The hotel will have 190 beds, pools, a sauna and a fitness hall, as well as a range of other features.

Slozna Braca bought a ski resort with a four-seat cable car in Zlatar several years ago, and the company is also active in constructing and paving roads in western Serbia.

– We have opted for tourism as the company's core activity in the future and we are thereby investing in new accommodation capacities. The capacity of the hotel we opened several years ago is 70% full on average, but the interest is growing day by day. Zlatar is equally as interesting to guests in winter and summer – says Vojko Puric, owner of Slozna Braca.

The tourist facilities in Zlatar currently offer around a thousand beds. The tourist and sports center Zlatar says that, officially, there were 27,000 overnight stays there last year, but that the actual number is much greater, as a large number of beds is still rented illegally.

– This much interest by tourists is good news, showing that Zlatar is a mountain with a future and that it pays off to make investments in the construction of tourist capacities here. The entire Hotel Panorama, which we've leased from Belgrade's Rekreaturs by 2023, is booked, as are most other facilities. There's great interest in summer vacation vouchers as well – says Rosa Jakovljevic, director of TSC Zlatar.
