The grand returnee settlement Suncana Dolina (Sun Valley), known as the first Serbian haven in Kosovo and Metohija, will soon be raised at the foot of the ancient city of Zvecan. The preparation of the terrain is in progress, so that in a few weeks, through the joint effort of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Diocese of Raska and Prizren, and the Municipality of Zvecan, the construction of 225-300 houses of 60-100m2 of surface could begin.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija explains that the settlement will also contain public facilities, among which are a church and a shopping mall which will be employing a certain number of residents. Each family which decides to return to Kosovo and Metohija in this manner will be guaranteed one employment, and with it its livelihood, says the Government's Office.

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric, the designer and initiator of the project, explained for Novosti that Suncana Dolina was not an attempt at demographic engineering and that the outcome was supposed to be the return to the previous state by giving a real chance to everyone who wished to returned to the Southern Serbian province, from which they had been driven out violently, to do so.

- I keep pointing out that the struggle for Kosovo and Metohija cannot succeed if it only involves the political elite. It has to be a venture of the whole people if we truly wish to protect Serbian interests in Kosovo and Metohija – said Djuric.
