future look of the swimming pool
People of Sremska Mitrovica have been saying for years that their town should have one more swimming pool. It seems now that this is not only a rumour and that the inhabitants of the largest town in Srem could soon enjoy themselves at another swimming pool which should be built next to the business and sports center Pinki.
As the city administration told us, most of the required documents are already collected - preliminary designs are completed, and so is the comprehensive land-use plan and the extended bill of quantities for the construction of aforementioned swimming pool.
Construction works should commence this autumn. In order to finance this investment, the City of Sremska Mitrovica took out a loan of over RSD 120 million (about EUR 1 million) because this is one of the most significant projects this year.
Spa center, gym, coffee shop…

According to the director of the business and sports center Pinki, Vasilij Sevo, the future bathing complex will include several accompanying amenities in addition to swimming pools.

- The project calls for the construction of two pools - a semi-Olympic pool (25x12 meters) and one pool that is smaller in size (10x8 meters). The building housing the indoor swimming pool will also feature a spa center, gym, coffee shop, info point and modern locker rooms, as well as a VIP section with separate entrance to the pool - Sevo explains to eKapija.

Our interlocutor notes that the roof structure will be made of wood, adding that there will be a plenty of natural light.
- There is a hot spring in the vicinity of the sports center, so that thermal water will be used to heat and cool the entire sports complex - Sevo points out.
Works expected to start in late summer
If everything goes as planned, construction of the swimming pool will begin in late summer and is expected to be finished in seven to nine months, by June 2016 at the latest. By the way, Pinki in Sremska Mitrovica was officially opened 1 November 1987 and has been serving as the main venue for all sports and cultural events in Srem for almost three decades.
