The Government of Slovakia donated EUR 30,000 to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration in Serbia for procurement of computer equipment in collection centers on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
The symbolic check was handed over to Commissar Vladimir Cucic by Ambassador of Slovakia Dagmar Repcekova, who pointed out that Slovakia had donated EUR 412,000 for solving the migrant crisis in Serbia up till then.
As she pointed out, Slovakia has always tried to act fast in all crisis situations. She reminded that the country had helped Serbia during the 2014 floods as well, but also in preparing the refugee housing project.
– Since 2012, Slovakia has provided EUR 850,000 in humanitarian help to Serbia, and in addition to that, since 2016, we have been providing classical development aid, which amounted to EUR 15.5 million at the end of last year – Repcekova emphasized.
She added that Slovakia would continue helping Serbia and that, for that reason, the donation ceremony was attended by the assistant to the minister of foreign and European affairs of Slovakia, Karla Wursterova, who also took part in the conversation about the continuation of cooperation with and aid to the Commissariat.
The financial help of the Government of Slovakia is meant for the purchase of computers to be used for communication between refugee collection centers in Serbia and Serbian public administration institutions in charge of the migration policy.
