Milan Parivodić
Dr. Milan Parivodic was born in Belgrade in 1966.
Minister of International Economic Relations of the Government of Serbia since 19 October 2004.Lecturer in commercial contracts and international trade law at the Faculty of Business Law in Belgrade. Member of the Democratic Party of Serbia. By profession Dr Parivodic is an international business lawyer.
Since 5th October 2001 Dr Parivodic has worked intensively on modernization of the legal system. He participated in drafting the Law on Foreign Investments (2002), Law on Concessions (2003), draft Law on International Trade (2005), Law on Execution Procedure (2004), draft Law on Mortgages (2005), draft Law on Courts (2005), Labour Law (2004), Competition Law (2004). Previously acted as legal consultant for the World Bank, International Financial Corporation, UNDP and other international organizations assisting in legal and economic reforms.
Before becoming minister consulted and acted for major multinationals in various industries and international banks in the last four years.
Dr. Parivodic lectured civil law and property law at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Laws from 1991 to 2004. From June 2004 moved into private international business law practice.
Member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the Journal of International Franchising, Richmond, London. Dr. Parivodic is also Secretary General of the Serbian AIPPI Group ( Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle -The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property). He participates regularly at the legal conferences locally and internationally.
Published law books “ Exclusive Distribution in the Laws of Yugoslavia and the European Community” (1996) and “Law of International Franchising”(2003), as well as many publications in international and Serbian law journals in the fields of international trade law, contract law, intellectual property law, competition law, distribution law.
Graduated from the Faculty of Laws of the University of Belgrade in 1990 cum magna laude. He was awarded the first masters degree in international trade law in 1995, defending the thesis “Contracts of exclusive distribution”. Received his second masters’ degree (LL.M) in international business law from University College London in 1997. Defended his Doctoral thesis “Franchising Contracts” cum magna laude at the Faculty of Laws, University of Belgrade in 2002. Took the bar examination in Belgrade in 1998, and the patent and trade mark attorney examination in 2001. In that capacity he was registered at the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property. He is sworn-in court translator for English language since 1991.
Married to Alexandra with daughters Olga and Dorotea.
