Second Section of Trans-Balkans Corridor for Power Transfer Completed Successfully

Elektromreza Srbije (EMS) has completed the second section of the Trans-Balkans Corridor for power transfer, stated the general manager of EMS, Jelena Matejic, on the occasion of visiting the Kraljevo 3 substation.

This project entailed the construction of a whole new power line between Kragujevac and Kraljevo, nearly 60 kilometers long, with 174 poles, as well as extensive works EMS’ substations in those cities. Other facilities that were built are a 400 kV distribution switchgear plant, a 400/220 kV transformation and a 220 kV line bay at the Kraljevo 3 Substation, and a 400 kV high voltage line bay was equipped at the Kragujevac 2 Substation.

Jelena Matejic said that it was a project of the highest national and pan-European importance, which has a strategic priority and importance, and EMS realized it with the help of EU grants, international credit and their own funds, the press release says.


She said that, since 2011, EMS had realized investments worth EUR 380 million through projects and that, by the end of 2030, an additional EUR 760 million would be realized through the ongoing investments.

– Since 2013, we have raised the power of transformation in Serbia by 17%, and we expect the increase by 2030 to be at 40% – said Jelena Matejic.
