RES Serbia 2021 - By 2040, Serbia will produce a minimum of 40% of electricity and heat from renewable sources
- Stronger mobilization of technology for clean energy is needed, in order to ensure the set goals by 2050, which include zero net emissions. Private sector's activation and its capital are key factors, as well as investors looking for the right opportunities. Also, lawmakers must be committed to the transition and enact clear rules. Serbia is one of such countries, a fact confirmed by the initiated reforms - said the director of the European energy team of the EBRD, Gregorz Zielinski.
Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Mining and Energy, pointed out that our country will not import electricity, because with our potentials we can satisfy our own needs and be an important factor in this part of Europe.
- The first step has been made, and that is the adoption of the law. The second step is bylaws, which will enable the first auction to take place in December this year. This will be followed by the development of strategic documents, important for the vision of the next 50 years. By 2040, Serbia will produce a minimum of 40% of electricity and heat from RES, and I believe that percentage can be even higher. The goal is for the harmful emissions to align with those in the EU in the upcoming 10 years - Mihajlović pointed out.
The RES 2021 conference is being held in Belgrade, and the organizers are the Renewable Energy Sources Association of Serbia (RES Serbia), in cooperation with the general partner, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
