Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic has talked to the chairman of MET, Benjamin Lakatos, about cooperation in the field of energy, focusing on gas power plants and interconnections, as well as renewable energy sources, the Government of Serbia announced.

Lakatos said that negotiations on another project, in addition to the completed biogas power plant Pepo, had started and added that gas power plants were part of the company’s business strategy and that they were dedicated to further investments in Serbia.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Ambassador of Hungary to Serbia, Attila Pinter, current projects, such as the Plandiste Wind Farm were discussed, but there was also talk about the possibilities of further cooperation.

On that occasion, Mihajlovic said that the ministry had prepared four important laws in this sector in order to create a favorable business environment and launch new investments.

She said that a tender for the contractor for the construction of the interconnection between Serbia and Bulgaria would open not long after and noted that the construction of gas connections with Croatia and Romania and new gas power plants in Serbia was considered as well.

– We are open to cooperation in the fields of renewable energy sources, solar panels and biomass as well – Mihajlovic said.
