Preliminary agreement on construction of TPP Kolubara B – Half of equipment and works to be provided by Serbian economy, EPS says
The Preliminary Agreement was signed by Milorad Grcic, the acting director of EPS, and Yang Bo, the director of POWERCHINA.
The construction of the TPP Kolubara B started in the 1980s, and EPS now plans to complete this spare-capacity facility, with a block of around 350 MW, in cooperation with the Chinese partner, based on the interstate agreements between Serbia and China, EPS says on its website.
The construction of this block, which ensures a sustainable industrial development of Serbia in line with the latest technologies and environmental protection measures proscribed by the EU, will be completed in Kalenic. The block in Kalenic is a spare capacity for the TPP Morava and the TPP Kolubara A.
– In the next few years, many projects will be realized between EPS and Chinese companies – Grcic announced.
Yang Bo emphasized that his company was a world-renowned engineering group with great experience in the construction of similar TPP blocks worldwide and reminded that the company had been present in Serbia for a number of years.
The TPP Kolubara B will have primary and secondary measures of reduction of emission of nitrogen oxides, a desulfuring system, electro-filters for reduction of emission of powders, a system for the reduction of mercury and halogens and a system for the treatment of waste waters.
– The completion of the TPP Kolubara B will enable the usage of coal, Serbia's strongest energy resource, until 2050. The project is of great importance for the domestic economy, as at least 45% of the equipment and the works will be delivered by the Serbian economy – EPS says.
The plan is for the block to be connected to the network by the end of 2024.
