For several months now, Konzum d.d. from Croatia, a part of the Agrokor Group, is scanning the supermarket business in Macedonia and is seriously considering entering that market.

Sources from the company tasked with analyzing the development and market conditions in Macedonia confirmed this information for Skopje Info portal.

The portal said their sources confirmed that they were finishing up the analysis and that the Croatian company was close to making a decision to start investment activities in Macedonia. If everything goes according to plan, first Konzum store in Skopje could be opened as early as the start of 2019.

Konzum d.d. is Croatia`s largest supermarket chain, with just over 700 stores and more than 12,000 employees. There are also Konzum stores in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Serbia and Montenegro where it operates under Idea brand.

The company faced restructuring in the previous period, which is why it had to close down many stores and lay off workers.
