IMF decreases Serbia’s GDP growth value forecast

This year, Serbia will generate a fall in economic activity of 0,5%, and growth of 1%, next year, according to the latest IMF’s forecasts.

Compared to spring forecast, IMF decreased Serbia’s economic growth forecast for this year from 1% to negative increase of 0,5%, as well as forecast for 2015 from primarily forecast growth of 1,5 down to 1%.

According to the latest forecasts, consumer prices in Serbia will increase this year for 2,3%, and 3,4% in the next year while the unemployment rate in 2014 will increase to 21,6% in 2014 compare to last year’s 21%, and it will up to 21,8% in the next year.

When it comes to current payments balance, this year, Serbia should register deficit of 6,1%, a and 5,1% next year

According to October’s report published at IMF’s website, SEE countries will this year generate slower growth due to catastrophic May floods which specifically hit Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia while next year, the countries of this region will go back to the track thanks to rehabilitation of flood-hit areas and employment increase.
