Agricultural export larger than 1 billion EUR in the first half of 2014 - 24% growth

Export in Agriculture of Serbia, in the first half of 2014, was 24.2% higher than the same period last year and amounted to 1.22 billion EUR, as announced today by the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture.
As specified, the import of agricultural products in the first half of both years amounted to 577.2 million euros, which is 9.3% less than the same period last year, so there was a surplus of 445.1 million euros.
It is pointed out that the surplus in the trade of agricultural products of 445.1 million euros (791.7 million dollars), is 2.4 times higher than in the same period of 2013., when it stood at 186.6 million euros (244.6 million USD) .
The rate of coverage of imports by exports is 1.8 while in the same period of 2013, it was 1.3, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia.
The share of agriculture in total exports of Serbia, has increased from 16.7%, which was in the same period in 2013, to 18.5%, while the share of imports has decreased from 8.7% to 7.7%.
It is specified that the greatest export was achieved in the group of cereals and cereal-based products, followed by vegetables and fruit, and beverages.
By the value of imports, vegetables and fruits (mostly citrus fruits) are in the first place, followed by coffee, tea, cocoa, spices, cereals and cereal-based products and various food products as well as processed products.
The largest surplus was recorded by the group with the highest export: cereals and products based on cereals, vegetables, fruits and beverages, according to the statement of the Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia.
