The Zemun-Borča bridge is now connected
The last cubic metre of concrete has been cast on the construction of the Zemun-Borča bridge, which marks the completion of rough construction works, said Beobuild portal.
According to this website, security fences, footpaths and hydro-insulation are still to be completed, as is work on a retaining wall under a coastal pillar on the Zemun side.
“Jersey” fences are made on the spot, in the middle of the bridge, while the edges are prefabricated elements. On the downstream side of the bridge, works have advanced further and safety fences for pedestrians, footpaths and kerbs are being installed.
Portable scaffolding for the last sections is still in position, but in the next days will be moving a few sections back towards the bank to be dismantled. Scaffolding will be travelling across the region to new building sites run by the Chinese contractors, probably to Montenegro where they won the task of building the motorway from Bar to the Serbian border. It is expected that the Chinese will win more tenders on Corridor 11.
Access from the hairpin bend to the bridge is at a somewhat lower level of completion, with the dike and lower supporting layers being set up. On the Borča side the situation of access roads is very good since there have been no delays, so almost 5 kilometres of road has been asphalted up to the Zrenjanin road.
Works are now focused on completion of the driveway construction, installation of electric cables, rain drainage system, kerbs etc. A 3.9 km-long cycle route has been finished on both sides of the road, from the bridge to the new exit for Borča.
Construction works are intensifying near the future Zrenjanin junction, the intersection of the Zrenjanin road and the future North tangent. It is a huge clover-shaped junction with the full set of connections and the works are progressing according to plan.
Works on the upper bridge construction over the Zrenjanin road and its access ramp are under way. There is a very high level of completion on the entire site from the bridge to the Zrenjanin junction, except for a couple of spots. There is no doubt that the works will be finished on time.
The situation is a little different when it comes to the section of the tangent from the Zrenjanin to the Pančevo roads. There is a problem with land expropriation and the works are seriously delayed. Most of the bridge construction work has been completed, especially on the key bridge over the railway line and the one over the Sebeš channel.
Most land-related problems have been resolved, except for one dispute that still hinders a stretch at the intersection with the Pančevo road. In the meantime, work is progressing on a sand dike, and 8.2 kilometres of the road has been finished to date on this section.
The works are carried out by "China Road and Bridge Corporation" (CRBC) and the Serbian company "Ratko Mitrović Niskogradnja".
