Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has started making black and white lists of contractors engaged in significant projects, said Zorana Mihajlovic at the road section Ub-Lajkovac, finding there a half-empty construction site.

Vice President of the Government Zorana Mihajlovic found only 50 workers out of 210 on the road section from Ub to Lajkovac, a future highway to Montenegro, writes Tanjug.

The Government extended a deadline for contractors - "Planum" and "Putevi Uzice" until 30 November to finish that 12.5 km long section, which has been built since 2010.

It was determined by the Annex to the contract that the contractor precisely has to submit a number of workers and their activities, says Minister during unexpected control.

When experts arrive into field, it is usually buzzing with workers, therefore it is possible that there is an alert in advance.

- On the other hand, when a group of young engineers come, or, me, for example, it turns out there are 51 or 52 workers instead of 210 on the whole route – said Minister.

Contractors will not be able to finish job by 30 November this way.

According to her, all companies which do not meet the deadline will lose their job and will not be able to obtain any other in the future. This is where black and white lists of contractors will be beneficial. It is not an idea of Serbian Government, it is prescribed by Convention 94 of International Labour Organization.

Speaking about asphalt quality, Mihajlovic said that the Ministry has been assessing its quality for a month and a half, no matter if it is a road or bridge construction.

Ministry is waiting for a report of the institute to prove what happened with asphalt on Beska bridge.

As Mihajlovic says, the project could not be changed by 20-30% subsequently, because it increases construction costs.
