BMW announced that due to the air bag issue, it will withdraw 1,36 mil cars of series 3 worldwide. Problematic air bags could tear apart during activation and cause injuries to passengers of the endangered cars.

The recall refers to series 3 models produced since May 1999 and august 2006, it was stated.

- For the security reasons, we decided to provide our customers to exchange air bags on co-driver’s side – BMW representative, Dave Buko, said.

Takata air bags have caused recall of over 12 million cars during the previous five years. Companies which use them are Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford and Chrysler.
