Nobody wants Serbian Mercedes

It’s been four months since the first Serbian Mercedes was produced in Ikarbus and not a single buyer was found for it, Istinomer reports.

According to the General Manager at Ikarbus, Aleksandar Vicentic, apart from the prototype not a single new vehicle was produced and as for now, the only Serbian Mercedes is at the testing at the authorized lab.
Vicentic points out that the crisis is the main cause. The General Manager at Ikarbus still adds that there are chances that the first orders get here by the fall. The contract on business and technical cooperation between Ikarbus and Mercedes will be signed, Vicentic outlines, the moment the first buyer is found.

When in March former Vice President of the Government, Aleksandar Vucic, personally hung the sign of the German saint on a new bus, he pointed out that it is an indicator of the industrial strength growth of Serbia. Vucic then pointed out that neighbors already showed interst in the new bus, adding that it will be sold at the area of the entire Southeast Europe.

The former Minister of Economy, Sasa Radulovic, pointed out that it is not the Mercedes investment but that the company will only sell parts for buses, Istinomer reminds. Director of Ikarbus replied that the objections of Radulovic do not make sense, pointing out that his plant will become one of Mercedes authorized body builders – they will get chassis from them and will assemble a bus on it.
