Facebook to lose half a million dollars due to halt
Facebook was temporarily unavailable yesterday. Although it was “only” 20 minutes, it was the longest halt in functioning since 2010.
Neither site was available, nor Facebook could be reached via mobile and hashtag #Facebookdown soon became one of the most popular on Twitter.
Facebook reps said there were technical problems and they apologized users for inconvenience.
They did not lose users for this halt most likely but they lost funds. As Forbes reports, this, almost half an hour halt, could cost Facebook half a million dollar.
They came to the figure having in mind Q1 data which show that Facebook earns USD 1,6 mil per hour.
