Toshiba starts new electricity consumption monitoring system in households

The Toshiba corporation announced the beginning of practical demonstration of the system for electricity consumption monitoring in households and systems for managing development of local communities, installed in revitalized area of the Lion city in France.

The monitoring system implies measuring of electricity, water and gas consumption in households in real time through installed measuring equipment in households and houses in public property. The data are shown (graphically) on tablets which are shared to residents of this area.

The tablets will also show electricity consumption of separate household appliances as well as advice to consumers how to save energy.

The objective of the initiative is increase the awareness of the local community when it comes to environment and at the same time help in decrease of individual electricity consumption, Toshiba explains.
