Partners from Slovenia, Austria and Italy support construction of intermodal terminal in Vrsac
- The purpose of this trip was to get familiar with the experiences of the formation of intermodal terminals and logistics centers - Project Manager Milovan Petrov announced.
People from Vrsac and partners from Resica, Romania visited intermodal terminals and logistics centers in Wels (Austria), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Verona (Italy). The managers of these companies expressed their interest and stressed they would support the establishment of an intermodal terminal in Vrsac.
- The municipality of Vrsac signed an agreement with partners from the Karasz-Severin County on 11 June 2013, while the funding was provided from EU funds, through the IPA Serbia-Romania Cross-Border Cooperation Program. The value of this project is about EUR 303,000 with 85 percent financed by the EU. The project duration is 12 months - Petrov pointed out.
Under this project, the Vrsac municipality will finance the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of logistics center and intermodal terminal near the railway station, next to the industrial zone and Technology Park in Beogradski Put Street.
Companies operating in this region will thus gain a competitive edge in terms of transportation and operational costs. Development of intermodal terminal will be a key advantage of Banat over other regions, which could result in new investments, new jobs and better living quality in the region.
