40th International Building Trade Fair opened in Belgrade
Serbian Construction and Town Planning Minister Velimir Ilic said at the opening ceremony that bad privatization caused the biggest blow to construction and road maintenance companies, expressing the hope that the situation would be better after the new Bankruptcy Law was promulgated and after the implementation of announced investments in infrastructure projects in the country, such as South Stream or Belgrade on Water.
As he noted, EUR 3 billion worth of agreements were concluded in Serbia last year for the construction of facilities, but that was still not enough to save all construction companies.
Ilic said that thanks to the announcement of foreign loans and concession for construction projects, the situation was slowly improving, but not as fast and as much as he had expected.
The fair that will be opened until April 12 will see the presentation of products by exhibitors from Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Austria, New Zealand, San Marino, Turkey, Russia, Poland and Italy.
