"Telekom Srbije" started construction of VSAT satellite communication network

Company "Telekom Srbija" has bought the equipment from Israeli company "Gilat Satellite Networks" for VSAT satellite telecommunications network, which it plans to install in Serbia.

The Head of the PR Sector in "Telekom", Ivan Đurović, said that that Israeli company would deliver the central satellite antenna and terminals, while the other part of the network, which would enable link with the satellites, would be bought from the other company.

He did not state precisely how much "Telekom" paid for the equipment, but it pointed out that the procurement would be financed from the budget of the company for year 2007. The equipment of Israeli manufacturer will be installed on the location of Prilike near Ivanjica, where the satellite center of Serbia is situated.

The satellite telecommunications network VSAT functions in the way that central satellite antenna sends signals to the satellite, the reception is carried out through small satellite antennas on the earth and it is intended for the companies in rural and unsettled areas.
