Wherever you find a suitable place – We are taking you to new camps by the Danube, the Tisa and the Jerma Rivers

The spring is coming, campers are preparing tents. The first rule of active holiday fans is that they always want something new and this year they will have an opportunity to choose.

In April, a camp on Zlatibor is expected to open as well as a couple of smaller camps are in preparation, Vladimir Djumic, the president of the Serbian Camping Association says.

- This year, we will continue with development of small camps in village households. The Zornic house in Barajevo, at Belgrade, a camping rest house in Cezava village at Golubac and a camping rest house within the Forest hotel in Zemun, near the Belgrade-Zagreb highway will be ready – our collocutor says.

Every year, Serbian camps are becoming more popular and 2013 was for at least 10% better than the previous year, Djumic says. However, he adds that unfortunately there are no exact data because a large number of campers have never been registered.

Although adventurers do not make a fuss about where they will go, active holiday fans have a couple of important criteria which a camp should fulfill. A programmer, Ivana Smiljkovic, has been camping in the Balkans region with her husband for years, both along the seaside and the local ones.

She has nice memories of the ecological camp at Fruska gora which she visited.

Campers expect a lot when it comes to this year. As the president of the Serbian Camping Association says, numerous camping tours form the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Lithuania, Poland and Slovenia have already been announced.

The first step has been taken – the Serbian camping association in cooperation with the Tourist Organization of Serbia defined 10 most attractive locations for the construction of new camps. It is contained in the project called "Camping potentials of Serbia – Mapping of Serbia in search for attractive, new camping locations” .

The locations have been defined through a questionnaire sent to local tourist organizations.

The real work to start the implementation in cooperation with tourist organizations and other partners is underway As a director of the Tourist Organization of Serbia, Gordana Plamenac, says for eKapija, one of the objectives is to set the camp form which best fits into the locality (transit, tourist, city camp, etc.) .

- The objective is to define as many potential localities as possible which meet all the prerequisites to grow into real camps in a short period of time and expand the offer of Serbia. The idea is to prepare projects (when it comes to documentation part) so that local authorities or tourist organizations could, at a specific moment, when prerequisites are met could apply for some incentives for the implementation- Gordana Plamenac says for our portal.

Until then, eKapija is presenting ten best locations for the construction of camps in Serbia which have been selected in this project.

Dobra at Djerdap – magical view at the Danube

Location in the Dobra village at the Djerdap National Park is some 24 km far from Golubac. Near the river in a protected natural zone, with a view over the Danube and only 150 meters far from the main road on the other side. The environment offers a wide range of cultural and historical natural attractions and two marked pedestrian lanes as well as Eurovelo 6 cycling route.

Lunjevica – between Takovo and Ravna gora

The Lunjevica village is a hometown of the Queen Draga Obrenovic (born Lunjevica). The location of some 40 a, meant for camp is located near the Lunjevacka reka and along the local road Gornji Milanovac-Mrcajevci, and the Ibarska highway is only 2 km far from it.

Slope under Resavska pecina (the Resavska cave)

A slope near the entrance of the Resavska pecina was selected as a good location. The future camp is some 20 km far from Despotovac. There is a start of a pedestrian path leading to Lisine waterfall nearby. The location is owned by the municipality and the detailed regulation plan defines the land on some 6,36 ha for tourism and recreation.

Secrets and legends of Rajkova pecina (the Rajkova cave)

We are moving to the east. Secretive Rajkovo at Majdanpek is also listed as one of the best locations for the construction of new camps in Serbia. It is camp which should be a part of the tourist complex, eKapija previously wrote about. Rajkove meadows should get dependence, a restaurant, a parking sports courts while the camp should expand on 50a.

The Drina story

The Gornja Koviljaca locality on 1, 3 ha is located at the location of a former car camp where there are remnants of infrastructure. There is a beautiful view over the Drina from here, and there is a developed walking zone at the location while sports fields and a beach are nearby.

Hutch in Srem

The Horizont locality is located in the Surduk village at Stara Pazova, 10 km far from E 75 highway. It is located at the loess rocks above the Danube and is featured with an unusual view over the north of Vojvodina. It takes an area of 2 ha.

Lipov `lad near Sid

Southwest slopes of Fruska gora, on the exit of the Berkasovo village, are the right place for the future camp. Some 70 a, surrounded by woods and an access road are perfect for that. The Lipovaca camp would thus be located in the middle of linden and oak forest, on some 100 meters far from the trim path.

Suitable for Ivanjica

The potential camping locality, Kumanica, some 70 a along the Moravica river, at the
elevation of some 600 m, ideal for nature fans because it is located in the foot of the Golija Nature Park.

Let’s go to Zabalj

Good camping location is along the Stara Tisa as well, at Biserno ostrvo in Curug. The first bigger place, Zabalj, is 12 km far and Novi Sad is the nearest city on some 40 km. The locality occupies some 20 a, near the developed quay with a walking zone, a beach and following facilities.

Trnski Odorovci waiting for camp

The list closes with the Trnski Odorovci village at Dimitrovgrad. The lot is in the Jerma river valley and there is a modernly-developed complex nearby – a trout pond. This location was marked with a sign for a camp in the spatial plan of the Dimitrovgrad municipality.
