Several foreign companies interested in purchase of Zrenjanin-based sugar plant

The acting manager of the Sugar factory in Zrenjanin, Đorđe Radu, stated that several foreign companies were interested in participating in the tender for the sale of 60.54% of the assets of the only Serbian State-owned sugar factory left.

He pointed out that the Government had donated 94 million RSD to the oldest sugar factory in Serbia, after it had ceased production in 2004, for the payment of debts to sugar beet producers.

In addition, Zrenjanin's sugar factory was written off 520m RSD worth of debt to public companies, which created conditions for more successful sale of the factory, which currently employs 240 workers.
