Johnson Electric's investment in Nis goes as planned - Trial production begins in March
The City Council of Nis made a decision at its latest session to propose to the mayor to conclude an agreement on business and technical cooperation with the power supply company Jugoistok and Belgrade-based Johnson Electric.
- This agreement is one of the steps towards the implementation of Johnson Electric's investment. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding and an Agreement on the alienation of building land, the City of Nis has assumed certain obligations to equip with infrastructure the location where the company's factory is being built, and in this case they are to secure the supply of 3MW of electricity. Johnson Electric is obligated to finance from its own resources the supply of the remaining 7MW they require. All this is expected to be finished by early summer. The reason to sign this agreement lies in the company's need to start testing production lines as early as in March, for which they need to be temporarily connected to the power supply system - Milan Randjelovic, the head of the Office for Local Economic Development, explained.
He stressed that that procedure was in line with earlier agreements that call for the start of trial production and testing of production lines in March and the employment of workers and the start of regular production at the factory under construction in late September.
Johnson Electric is engaged in the production of motors, coils, switches, flex circles and microelectronics.
