Panasonic arrives first - Svilajnac opens duty free zone
The municipality of Svilajnac has got a duty free zone whose first user will be the Panasonic company that established PEWVS (Panasonic Electric Works Vossloh-Schwabe Serbia) in 2010 in that town, Svilajnac Mayor Predrag Milanovic told Tanjug news agency Thursday.
This zone was established by the decision of the Serbian government, while the Finance Ministry gave us permit to operate a duty free zone, Milanovic explained.
He specified that the duty free zone covered an area of 7 hectares in Veliko Polje at the moment, adding that they were allowed to expand it to a total of 30 hectares.
According to him, the primary goal and mission of the duty free zone in Svilajnac is to serve as the means to attract investments for the sake of local and regional development as well as to allow for the creation of new jobs and the concentration of services and needs at one place through a logistics center.
