Governments of Serbia and Russia negotiate about overhaul of hydroelectric power plant "Đerdap", job worth 100m USD

According to unofficial information, the delegation of the Government of Serbia, led by the Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, will sign concrete agreement on realization of old clearing debt of former USSR through joint works in Serbia on Wednesday (December 13, 2006) in Moscow.

The biggest among them is complete overhaul of hydroelectric power plant "Đerdap".

The value of the complete rehabilitation and modernization of the generator of "Đerdap 1" is about 100m USD. That job would be carried out by the specialized Russian and Serbian companies, which would result in the growth of the production capacity of one of the biggest hydroelectric power plants in Europe by 10%.

General overhaul of "Đerdap", according to the standards for power plants of that kind, should have been carried out 10 years ago. All turbines that are built in the dam of hydroelectric power plant "Đerdap" more than 30 years ago were produced by the same Russian company that would be engaged in the overhaul. Few thousands of workers of the various professions would be hired to work on modernization of the biggest power plant on the Danube in the following years.

Serbian and Russian representatives will talk tomorrow in Moscow about supply of natural gas to our country in 2007, investments into underground gas storage in Banatski Dvor, as well as about megaproject of "Gazprom" - construction of gas pipeline across Serbia.
