Budapest-Belgrade railroad modernization to start soon - China interested in railroad reconstruction

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Chinese Premier Li Kegiang and Hungarian PM Viktor Orban agreed today in Bucharest on a joint project aimed at modernizing the railroad between Budapest and Belgrade.

Dacic, who is attending the Summit of prime ministers of 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Prime Minister of China in Bucharest, stated at a joint press conference with the prime ministers of China and Hungary that that was a chance to set high technology goals in the region, it was announced on the Serbian government`s website.

He underlined that the railway route from Budapest to Belgrade was very important for our country, noting that transit through Serbia depended on the modernization of railways and the construction of motorways.

Kegiang stated that he had reached an agreement with Dacic and Orban regarding the project, adding that they had also agreed to set up a working group straight away so that the implementation of the project could start as soon as possible.
