Atlas Grupa acquires 4.99 percent stake in Univerzal Banka
Montenegrin Atlas Grupa announced Wednesday that it had become the owner of 4.99 percent of Univerzal Banka Beograde shares that Atlas Mont Fond bought on the Belgrade Stock Exchange
This is the first step in which Atlas Grupa in cooperation with Serbian businessmen plans to acquire a 30-percent stake in that bank with the consent from the National Bank of Serbia, it is said in a release.
Atlas Grupa is the owner of Atlas Banka Podgorica, Invest Banka Montenegro and Atlas Banka Moskva. With this acquisition in Serbia, it will expand its regional presence in the banking industry.
The release reminds that Atlas Grupa was present in Serbia through Atlas Banka Beograde that was established in 1995 and through its stake in Centro Banka.
Atlas Banka Beograd was sold to Piraeus Bank in 2006, whereas Marfin Bank acquired Atlas Grupa's stake in Centro Banka.
