Mirovic announces construction of new industrial zones in Serbia

Serbian Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Igor Mirovic has announced the construction of new industrial zones in Serbia and promised municipalities good cooperation with the ministry, adding that there will be no political obstacles to the implementation of good projects.

Mirovic said in an interview with Tanjug news agency that the door of his ministry would always be open to all municipalities, which can count on assistance in the preparation of projects, dialogue about all issues, as well as support to the process of identifying significant projects for economic development of municipalities and regions.

He said that municipalities in Serbia should join their forces and apply for grants from international funds for the most important projects in Serbia.

As he noted, the plan is to define a special program of assistance for the construction of work and business zones in the municipalities that lack such zones, all in compliance with the 2014 budget.

According to the data provided by local self-governments, there are 92 work and business zones in Serbia, whereas about 40 municipalities lacks an area of this kind.
