Households and the economy sector will soon be paying a 10.9 percent higher price of electricity. This price increase percentage has been requested by the Electric Power Company of Serbia. Considering that EPS must notify its consumers 15 days prior to the price increase, the price is expected to go up on August 1st, said people at the Energy Agency.

The newly formed company EPS Snabdevanje, which officially began operations a month ago, previously asked for an even bigger price increase, but the Energy Agency requested from this company to eliminate all unjustifed expenditures from the proposed price increase percentage. EPS Snabdevanje received an official public supplier license from the Energy Agency in early July, which was the first condition for entering the procedure to increase the price of kilowatt-hours.

An average household in Serbia currently spends about RSD 3,500 on electricity every month, meaning that electricity bills in August will go up by about RSD 400.
