At the top of Novi Beograd (Novi Beograd also has top), at hidden place, you will find Sports Center of Students' city

On Bežanijska Kosa, above Novi Beograd, placed between Belgrade-Zagreb highway, sports center and swimming pool “11.april”, tennis court “Đukić Radoje” (why does the surname go first ?), luxurious houses behind the “Chinese wall” and the houses that got name "Karingtonke" due to one of the building affairs from 1980's - there is Sports Center of the Students' City, equally used by both students and inhabitants of Bežanijska Kosa. The inhabitants of this part of the city used to have lot of problems, young couples with children did not have telephone lines, kindergarten, school, aid station..., but they had cycling tracks, bold city planning and architectural solutions for the housing projects, beautiful buildings, as well as swimming pools and Sports Center.

They say that the Center was built during one summer, when Comrade Tito, after he successfully calmed students during demonstrations in 1968, thought of "bribing" them in very nice way, so that, while they were spending their summer vacations at home, he had the sports center built, i.e. its first phase, on Bežanijska kosa. Since students did not organize rebellions any more, there was no second phase. In 1990's, in the prime of “pumping up" of optimism, the big board appeared at the base of sports center, in Tošin bunar Street, bearing announcement of the second phase of the Center. Earthworks were carried out, several cascades were created from the top of the Center to the Tošin bunar Street and then everything stopped. Today, there is cascade underbrush on that location.

The Center has outdoor courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, handball, small gym for working out, two football fields, locker room and quasi restaurant with plastic chairs and tables and cheap drink. You are here surrounded by romantic neglect, which does not bother anyone. Sports Center is always rich with democratic atmosphere and mixed Bosnian, Montenegrin, Prijepolje's, Ivanjica's, Raška's, Užice's... accents of the students from Students' Dormitory, with, of course, famous accent of the Belgrade citizens from Bežanijska kosa. Come to the Center when it is sunny, but not during the big heats, since there is no good shade at all.
