Minister of Construction and Town Planning Velimir Ilic told Tanjug news agency on June 18th that Serbia would soon get a loan from Exim Bank to finance the work on Corridor XI.

- We were at a meeting in Exim Bank in a bid to accelerate the process of getting the loan and starting the work. The bank management agreed to finish that process in July if possible, so we could commence the work right away - said Ilic.

He stressed that there had been some problems that were to be solved between the contractor and the bank.

- But all this will be finished in few days, and we hope this will be first loan from a EUR 10 billion fund for southeast Europe. We will be the first to receive that loan - Minister Ilic concluded.

Ilic said to Tanjug that Serbian and Exim Bank representatives were negotiating a time when the money for Corridor XI construction would become available, adding that two more concession-based projects were going to be presented to Chinese investors.

Ilic earlier announced that the construction of two highway stretches on Corridor XI, from the Zemun-Borca Bridge to Obrenovac and from Cacak to Pozega, would be carried out through concessions.
