(agreement signing ceremony in Vrsac)
Vrsac Mayor Cedomir Zivkovic and Viktor Najdan, executive director for the projects of the Caras-Severin County in Romania, signed Tuesday (11 June 2013) an agreement to implement the project Introduction of Modern Transport Technologies in Banat's Logistics Links. This project is being implemented under the IPA Romania-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Program. It is valued at EUR 300,000, and is expected to take a year to implement, it was announced on evrsac.rs.
Under this project, the municipality of Vrsac will finance the preparation of a Feasibility Study for the construction of a logistics center and an intermodal terminal near the Railway Station, next to the industrial zone and Technology Park on the Beogradski Road.
Introduction ot intermodal transport will make it possible for products and goods to reach end buyers in Serbia or abroad in a faster, better-quality and more cost-effective manner. An intermodal terminal will be situated in the center of the logistics center, serving as a place where road and rail transport intersect. This project will raise the level of competitiveness of the Vrsac municipality as far as attracting new investors is concerned, it was announced.
The agreement signing ceremony was also attended by Dejan Pantovic, assistant to the mayor of Vrsac, representatives of the Office for Local and Economic Development, Robert Niht, coordinator of the projects of the Caras-Severin County, Anka Lolescu, director of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program (JTS) in Timisoara, and Elizabeta Stanimirov, head of the JTS Antena Office in Vrsac.
