Zemun-Borca Bridge to open to traffic in late 2014
Transportation Minister Milutin Mrkonjic and Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas visited the Zemun-Borca Bridge construction site on May 24th.
There are about 500 people working on this construction site at the moment, the city management said in a release.
- Today, a year and a half after the work on the bridge commenced, we wanted to show what the City of Belgrade and the Republic of Serbia had done together. The whole project is progressing in line with the schedule, pillars have already been placed in the water, part of the bridge structure is completed, and so are some access roads - said Djilas.
We expect this bridge to open to traffic in late 2014 as expected, Djilas pointed out.
There are no problems now other than expropriation, which is typical for all projects of this kind, he added.
Mrkonjic stressed that the Serbian government must create conditions for resolving land expropriation issues, adding that that would happen very soon.
