State owes up to EUR 1 billion to construction companies



According to estimates, the state owes between 600 million and 1 billion euros to the construction industry of Serbia for the works completed, President of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Construction Workers of Serbia Dusko Vukovic said today.
- We want the government to urgently prepare a program for the settlement of debts for the projects implemented - he told a press conference, assessing that the government program of support to construction companies had failed to give expected results.
He believes that the state treats construction companies irresponsibly, although their employment would revive another 27 industries.
- Some industries receive billions of dinars worth of aid, while the construction industry gets only 10 million - Vukovic said and added that only oil, pharmaceutical and automotive industries had recovered in Serbia, whereas the rest of the economy sector was still in recession.
